Many did not fully understand. The one held in Rome on 30 September 2023 was a self-managed and free citizens' assembly. There were no leaders to incite crowds, no wealthy organizations to mobilize troops with flags and banners, nor was there any desire to plan a revolution. In that square we met free citizens who did not want to surrender. We gathered in a Roman square because Rome is home to the incompetence, ignorance and idiocy that damages the country. Only one question continues to circulate: how many were we? We were the right number and with the right passion. Many people I met were disappointed and deluded, expressing anger and resentment towards those who had not shown up. I strongly contested this wrong "interpretation" of a beautiful day and wanted no one to damage it. I asked for respect for those who were present and for those who could not participate, some due to lack of money and others for family reasons. They had to show pride because they had experienced a day of true democracy.
A first nucleus of Active Citizenship has emerged that applies and demands Direct Democracy. We hugged our travel companions and exchanged information and ideas. Reflect on this and compare our assembly on the 30th with the farce of October 7th that the unions are preparing to organize, again in Rome. It will be crowded, as you hoped ours would be, but we are authentic, while they will be silent extras. On the 30th we were free protagonist citizens, leaders of ourselves. We are on the side of the least, not only with proclamations and words, but through concrete actions and gestures. They keep asking me: "But how did the Sardines do it?" Those were trained "extras", they cannot be compared to us. We are "real", while they were a fake constructed product, made of "plastic". We must not squander this experience. It must become our "Permanent Self-Defense Assembly". Each of us, in our territories, can form "Self-Defense Collectives" that continue to refer to this Assembly for coordination. The number doesn't matter. If we organize ourselves, we will scare them, believe me. They work to keep us divided. When they understand that we have become one voice, they will have to leave the country. No misunderstanding. We have all been registered and certified in the M5S since 2010, as well as in our Territorial Groups. We will never abandon our spontaneity, autonomy and freshness. We will never give up making ourselves heard. I don't trust everyone, some of our spokespersons have their bags ready to move to where they believe they have a future as professional "politicians". Fortunately, they are a minority.
I had the opportunity to meet in person Claudio, Stefano, Massimo, Andrea Roda, Andrea De Luca, Paolo, Luana, Giovanna, Vito, Riccardo, Roberto, Giovanna, ... I had only known them through chats for years. It was an emotion to hug them, compare notes, exchange information. I'm taking this treasure home. How can anyone think that the Assembly of the 30th in Rome was not a success? Whoever says this has understood nothing. In Rome there was a juxtaposition between active citizens in order to evaluate proposals, ideas and projects in a free citizen assembly in which free people participated.
